Ways to Help

There are many things that you can do to help further the goals of the Democratic Party. Match your passion, skills, and what you like to do with one of the many things YOU CAN DO.

Make new friends and feel good that you are DOING SOMETHING as a concerned citizen who wants to GET INVOLVED!

Do you like working with others?

  • Staff the booth at the Farmers' Market or the County Fair
  • Knock on doors with a partner to raise awareness of the benefits of Democratic causes and candidates
  • Set up a Voter registration table at the local market/grocery store
  • Talk to a Vet about how much Jon Tester has done to protect Vets
  • Help out at school activities
  • Attend events and pass on news of interest to the Central Committee
  • Walk or drive in a parade

Do you like to cheerlead and/or rally the troops?

  • Become a Precinct Captain
  • Make phone calls
  • Take on a major responsibility - lead an activity like the fair, parade, fundraising, booth, handling gear or yard signs
  • Recruit others to help
  • Join other nonprofits, help them, and demonstrate that Democrats care

Are you a mover / shaker?

  • Hold a precinct meeting
  • Hand out information
  • Learn one-on-one meeting techniques
  • Write Letters to the Editor
  • Volunteer for a Candidate
  • Make a speech
  • Actively encourage other Democrats to get involved
  • Broaden the circle - draw in moderate Republican friends
  • Host a fundraiser

  • Attend Democrat planning meetings and participate
  • Help write and submit ads

Do you like to work on policy or legislation?

  • Testify to legislative committees
  • Run for office
  • “Adopt” a public meeting, like County Commissioner meeting, City Council, School Board
  • Testify to an interim legislative committee
  • Attend Republican events, to understand situations & issues.

Do you like to help behind the scenes?

  • Help the Central Committee with Administrative duties
  • Help staff Jon Tester’s Hamilton Office
  • Deliver yard signs or put one up in your yard or your neighbor’s yard
  • Write postcards for candidates
  • Wear a Montana Democrat Hat
  • Put a bumper sticker on your car or truck
  • Be a Poll watcher/ ballot box observer
  • Be an Election Judge
  • Bake cookies for the next gathering
  • Pay for (or paint) a highway/yard sign
  • Post Democrat news items to social media
  • Follow various regional groups (e.g. - MEIC, Northern Plains Resource Council, BCAG, Rural Assembly, Wild Montana ...), pass on news
  • Write thank-yous to Democratic legislators
  • Distribute flyers
  • Vote
  • Donate items for raffles or financially
