Regarding the Bodnar vs. Bankhead Debate

From the RavDems' October 2026 newsletter: As the race has developed, it’s clear Bodnar has the lead. Passions run high in some quarters, with many women remaining true to their fight for equal opportunity. As our banner says, women’s rights are human rights.

Looking at the Montana-specific situation, Bodnar is the better candidate. Recent public performances show Bankhead struggling, going “low” under pressure, attacking randomly without effect. It’s unfortunate and probably natural, given the pressures of campaigning, low finances, few Montana credentials and thin campaign operation.

We Democrats support women, no question. We also look for staying power. The pressures of campaigning in Montana bear little resemblance to the extraordinary pressure cooker that is DC politics. Courage has to be protected by calluses earned through hard work.  Gender is an asset, not a qualification.  Standing up over time is hard. Women can and do compete proudly: look at Amy Klobochar, Monica Tranel, Nancy Pelosi, Angela Merkel and many others. Bankhead has a future somewhere. Keep an eye on her.

That said, we don’t tell you how to vote. Vote your conscience. There’s no need to judge each other, no need to defend or explain your vote. It’s a tough scenario; don’t make it tougher on each other. We have a big tent; we have important values and goals, we have plenty of work to do. We need to do it together.
